Welcome!
Welcome to the Open Molecular Software Foundation’s news site!
If you haven’t met us before, the Open Molecular Software Foundation (OMSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to advance molecular sciences through collaboration, open science and sustainable communities building essential research software.
We live in exciting times – molecular modeling is rapidly advancing. Fueled by the GPU computing revolution, the field is pushing the limits of what’s possible with new physics-based modeling methods and AI. At OMSF, we believe that collaborative knowledge sharing will play a decisive role in shaping the future of research and technology. Open science and open source principles enable broad participation and community engagement across sectors and borders, and when discussing how technology should interact with our society, we believe that many voices should be heard. We hope to spark more of these important conversations around important problems, and some solutions. This newsletter strives to become the go-to place to learn about open source software for molecular modeling and recent developments, and provide a path to get involved.
We would also like to thank the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for their support, which enabled us to expand our human bandwidth and capacity for community building efforts. Clear communication is the key to building a strong community, and to our organization’s long term success. This newsletter is the first step towards that goal, but we have other plans and goals for 2024. Stay tuned for more updates!
Please subscribe if you would like to stay in touch. We will keep you updated on the latest developments in our community. You can find more information about who we are and what we do on our website, which is also scheduled for a major update. For any questions or suggestions, please reach out to info@omsf.io. For more exciting news, read our next post!
